The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Review *No Spoilers*

Let me first tell you that I am a massive Lord of The Rings fan. After watching The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey, I was mildly disappointed but I still decided to attend the midnight release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and I was not disappointed. I thought it was a major improvement from the first Hobbit film. It was very fast paced and an overall, good film. The acting was great from almost everyone, it was very comical, much funnier than any of the Lord of The Rings films. For me, Legolas made the movie. Orlando Bloom was brilliant and the character was right back slicing and dicing orcs like a turkey on thanksgiving. However, like the first Hobbit film, the CGI is over used and it probably takes a lot from the film. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. If you go into the film expecting Lord of The Rings, you may be disappointed but if you’re expecting the first Hobbit movie, you just may be pleasantly surprised. I gave this film an 8/10.

  1. Good review Luke. It’s a very fun movie when it wants to be, but when it focuses on its story and starts to dive head-on in the exposition, it begins to die down. Majorly, too.
